#Faithful2017 | Marie's Acting Journey Week 10
The computer is on the fritz once again! So I find myself using my phone camera which means I had to rush through my Vlog. I'm up for the challenge! Getting all my thoughts out in record time and sharing about a productive week. Thanks for watching and reading.
Marie's Acting Journey 2017 | Wk. 10
1. What did I learn this week in my craft?
I went to an acting workshop Monday, and I loved the simple takeaway the instructor, Rob Pralgo left: Every scene is made up of at least two characters trying to achieve an action. Once the action is achieved, the scene is over or the characters have to focus on a new goal. Just simple Meisner and Adler. I love it and can't wait to simply focus on that in the auditions I know are coming up.
2. What am I currently working on?
I booked a commercial yesterday! Amen God. The best thing was that in the audition process, I got to challenge myself with improv and reacting to spur of the moment suggestions from the casting director and producers. This really keeps me on my feet, and I love the workout. Booking the job was icing on the cake as it has been a while. Can't wait to share it with you.
What else I SHOULD be working on is my monologue I'll performe at church in a week and a half. I do not like monologues. Never have. I like having someone to work my scene off of. Helps me remember my lines and the direction of the scene. But in class, some super talented actors have inspired me with the work they put in on their monologues. So I need to get it together. Besides, it's an amazing story of the Adulterss Woman and her reaction with Jesus. Epic. It'll be great.
3. What was my "faith" lesson this week?
Humility. Last Vlog I talked about my "humanity" as well. Lifelong theme. But realizing that humble means "lowly" and human comes from the word that means "from the ground," I need to connect the dots with my place. Realizing even more that it's okay to mess up (even mess up a line!), it's okay not to be the best actor, and for sure, I am not. I need to be the best I can be and learn from others. There's always an opportunity to learn, and down times and challenging times keep us focused on our need for God and others and other make us grow in character. So like Lil Jon said, "Get low! Get low!" That's all folks.
