#Faithful2017 | Marie's Acting Journey Week 11

March 30, 2017

Doing a sideway video today. That is so funny. Can't believe I missed this note forever. It's been a very productive week. Check it out below to hear about why!

Marie's Acting Journey 2017 | Wk. 11

The Summary

1. What did I learn this week in my craft?

This week I started learning about Investing. What? Investing you say? Yeah, seriously. My husband recommended this book, Rich Dad Poor Dad, and while I have heard about it, it's a book I would have never read. I don't like to take any risks with my money, and I don't like to owe anything. But there's a realm of money I have never delved into. I'm the person who will work my butt off forever and work hard, saving up even when not needed. So in looking into the future to how I want to quit my side job (2 more weeks!) and also with acting being an industry that goes up and down, this could be an area super beneficial to learn about. After all, this is the entertainment business!

2. What am I currently working on?

This week has mostly been about the Atlanta Film Festival. I've been making the treck downtown everyday, and it's been filled with adventure, inspiration, and new relationships (along with a bit of anxiety and exhaustion). It was especially cool to see two films made in Georgia screened to nearly full audiences. It gives me hope for the work I am doing and the potential of our local Atlanta market. I'm just getting into the development and production side so am trying to learn from as many people as possible. If you get a chance, check out The 12 Lives of Sissy Carlyle that depicts a grieving young woman who tries to find herself through the hilarious different parts of her personality, and Holden On, which brings awareness to teen suicide and mental illness.

3. What was my "faith" lesson this week?

If you are patient enough, someone will show you something you didn't know already, and you will be glad to know it. Too many times I think I have things figured out. I think if I try something once, I should be an expert at it. If I go through a hard situation, I should know how to conquer it like a pro every time in the future. Not true. How many times does a friend have to remind me that I'm being faithless? How many times do I have to read a scripture and be like "oh, yeah... forgot about that." Apparently, many times because we are forgetful creatures. So I'm learning to be patient and to be wrong and to welcome the thoughts of those who can remind me. Good stuff.
